We are artists and practitioners from many disciplines: Dancers, writers, healers, explorers, visual artists, players, thinkers, body workers, musicians, filmmakers, somatic practitioners, and others. We are committed to creative process as central to our life’s work.
We acknowledge that the creation of art is sacred work. We hold Community, Sustainability, Risk-taking, Inclusion, Safety, and Prosperity as our core to this venture.
- We create our work in a dynamic balance of collaboration and individual exploration.
- We acknowledge that the creation of art is sacred work.
- We value personal safety, both physical and emotional. While our work may be provocative, we honor and respect personal boundaries, including clear statements that protect confidentiality.
- Within these boundaries, risk-taking is honored and encouraged. We support work that is emergent, experimental, and exploratory.
- The terms “art” and “sacred” are self-defined and inclusive.
- We bend genres, blur the edges and boundaries of disciplines. We learn from experimentation in genres outside our area of expertise.
- This project is repeatable, fostering a community of practice* that will grow and evolve beyond the eight days of the Intensive.
- This Sacred Arts Intensive is an experiment itself. Therefore, the structure may change and evolve over the course of the week.
- Our practices respect the health of the planet.
We allow time to process in the form of: dialogue, discussion, sharing after sessions. Processing may take place at regular intervals through the week. Sharing is always voluntary, and may take the form of creative expression.
*”Community of Practice” inspired by the work of Jean Lave and Etienne Wenger.
